This medium-sized tech company has been a leader in the development of mission critical E-Health products for decades. All hospitals in the Netherlands use this platform and about 90% of primary care. Talking about a huge impact, right?
At the moment they are working on the development of various new products here. You can think of a platform that will contribute to more influence in how and where we will receive healthcare. They are also working on the development of a platform that will ensure that diagnoses for certain syndromes can be made in the Netherlands in a quick and uniform manner. Something that will definitely save levels and is becoming more relevant every day in the present time.
This new platform has quite a complex challenge, including scalability and must be available to 17 million Dutch people. You work here with a nice modern tech stack that consists of Scala, Akka HTTP / Streams, Kafka, Cats, Kubernetes, Docker, CQRS, AWS and Elasticsearch.
You will work here in an informal culture where people work with a great passion for their profession. Yet, due to the complexity you see a very high level of software engineering here.
The people here have remained down to earth and the working atmosphere is relaxed with an excellent work-life balance. The organization is extremely flexible such as working from home (before and after Corona at least 2/3 days), flexible working hours.
Currently, people are working from home because of the corona crisis, but even after Corona they will continue to work from home a lot!

Your role: Senior Scala Developer Utrecht
In your role as Senior Scala Developer you will work in a highly innovative team within the organization. Because new products are developed here, you have a lot of news construction and the amount of legacy code is limited to a minimum. The team is end-o-end responsible for its own product. You build it, you run it.
You and your team of experienced Scala Developers will be building new products that will all form a very important part in a mission critical chain within healthcare in the Netherlands. Literally EVERY Dutch person will benefit from the platform that you and your team are developing here. The challenge here is that it concerns a chain with very complex processes, within a very complex domain. The challenge is to automate this with software engineering best practices such as clean coding. Do you like complex puzzles, then you’ve come to the right place.
What is being asked?
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science or similar
- At least 4 years of professional Software Development experience
- Experience with Scala from your own project, professional or Coursera course
- Experience with Akka is a plus
- Experience with Kafka and / or Kubernetes is a plus
- Experience with Docker and / or CQRS is a plus
- Experience with NoSQL technology is a plus
- Experience with AWS is a plus
- Experience with Cats is a plus
- Experience with Logstash and / or Gatling is a plus
- Experience with Continuous delivery and deployment is a plus
- Experience with Automated Testing is a plus
