Your Role: Senior Backend Engineer Amsterdam Java/Kotlin

In your role as Senior Backend Engineer Amsterdam Java/Kotlin you will play a fundamental role in the further development of the Amsterdam office as well as the mission critical high quality heavily distributed backend services. These are all non-trivial, highly distributed, fault highly resilient, globally used fintech solutions, which run 24/7 without with 0 downtime! Talk about a challenge!

As a Senior Backend Engineer Amsterdam Java/Kotlin there is a lot of room to have impact on the roadmap and introduce new ways of doing things. There are many examples of engineers driving the innovation in the business. You as an engineer are the key asset for the company and will get all the room the add value with you creativity!

To help you get the best out of your work you can use the best of the best technologies, like Event Driven Architecture, DDD, TDD, GCP, Kotlin, Spring Boot, PostGres, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka and Gitlab CI. Although this stack is always evolving as they have a true polyglot engineering mind-set. Always looking for the best way to solve challenges!

And, as the Amsterdam hub is new, so is the codebase. So you can work within a fresh codebase without legacy! You can imagine that core engineering fundamentals around clean coding, design patterns and TDD are really important here.

What is required?

Minimum of 5 years professional software engineering experience
Solid Computer Science Fundamentals, Data Structures and Algorithms
Experience in a modern backend language like Kotlin, Java, Scala or Go
TDD/high quality product mind-set
System design experience
Solid communicator and team player
Experience designing, building and running high volume heavily distributed (near) real-time resilient backend systems
Professional experience with Docker and Kubernetes within a modern cloud environment
Experience in Kotlin is a plus
A Bachelor or Master in Computer science or similar is a big plus

From their site and reviews they looked like very professional recruiters and i was not wrong. In about 2 weeks i had a couple interviews at a variety of big tech companies and got a good offer pretty soon thereafter.They guided, prepared me for the interviews and helped with the final negotiations. I was looking for a role as a senior Scala developer in Amsterdam/Utrecht region.I was specifically looking to apply for one company through CodeGuild, but in the initial interview they also presented me with a couple of other options for companies which would be a good fit for me.They were very friendly, helpful and supportive, without being pushy. There was targeted help with prep for the interviews/assessments which was specific to each company, and they enabled me to give the best account for myself (definitely better than if I'd been preparing on my own).In the end I accepted an offer from one of the companies they presented me with instead of the original company I had in mind.
