That is why we are now looking for a Lead Engineer Java/Kotlin Amsterdam to lead a highly-skilled backend engineering team that works on the very business critical communication and trust systems.
Your role: Lead Engineer Java/Kotlin Amsterdam
As a Lead Engineer Java/Kotlin Amsterdam you will be leading one of the highly skilled backend engineering teams in Amsterdam to build the next generation trust and communication services that will be used by hundreds of million more users. You and your team will be working on globally operating, heavily distributed, highly available (24/7 uptime) and super secure mission critical backend systems. With services building with Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kafka, NoSQL and will fully migrate to GCP.
You will be working closely with your Product Manager on global services to define the vision, translate that into roadmaps and technology while driving this throughout your team (4 backend software engineers). Still most of your time you will be hands-on involved in designing and building these systems.
Currently, these backend services handle over 4 billion messages each month. As these services are growing you can look forward to an even bigger scale to work on, which makes by far one of the most challenging environments here in Amsterdam.
Within your role, you will also get a lot of freedom and responsibility to work on what you think is best. There is no micromanagement! You are only responsible for the end results!
What is required?
- 5+ years of experience with Software engineering with the JVM
- Experience in leading a team that build solutions that handle very large volumes
- Experience in Java and/or Kotlin
- Experience within public cloud environments like AWS, GCP or Azure
- Experience with Spring Boot, Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Experience with NoSQL like Cassandra
- Strong communicator and people facilitator
- You thrive within an organization with lots of freedom and autonomy
- A completed BSc or MSc Beta education, like Computer Science is a plus
