Your job: Senior Backend Engineer Amsterdam

As a Senior Backend Engineer Amsterdam, you work on the systems that ensure data across the organisation is reliable, consistent and usable for decision-making at scale.

This is not about building dashboards, but about solving the complexity behind them. You design and build Kotlin-based services and event-driven flows that bring together (real-time) data from multiple systems, making sure it is accurate, aligned and available when it matters.

You work on data models, APIs and processing logic where correctness is critical, because the output directly influences financial, operational and commercial decisions across different markets.

At the same time, you operate in a modern cloud-native environment, deploying services on Kubernetes, contributing to CI/CD pipelines and improving observability and system reliability.

You collaborate closely with engineers, analysts and business stakeholders, turning complex requirements into scalable backend solutions and shaping how data flows through the organisation.

What is required?

• At least 6+ years of experience in backend engineering
• Strong experience with Kotlin or Scala/FP
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and cloud-environments
• A pragmatic, outcome-driven mindset
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders
• Interest in functional programming (Arrow is a plus)
• Experience with Redis, Meilisearch or similar tools is a plus
