Your Role: Principal Android Engineer POS Amsterdam

You’ll be joining a fast-growing scale-up in Amsterdam, founded by a team that previously built a fintech unicorn. Their new mission: after disrupting the payments industry, now radically reimagine the POS industry. Not by adding another layer on top of legacy systems, but by building a lightweight, Android-based platform from scratch fully real-time, connected to modern payment rails and backend APIs.

You’ll work directly with a technically brilliant, yet deeply empathetic CTO with extensive experience in both engineering and payment infrastructure. The engineering culture is down-to-earth and high trust: minimal hierarchy, maximum autonomy. Everyone here is driven by the mission and by the quality of the people they work with.

Your Role: Principal Android Engineer POS Amsterdam

As Principal Android Engineer POS, you’ll lead the technical direction of this new POS platform. You won’t just be responsible for the code you’ll be thinking deeply about lifecycle management, terminal security, EMV certification, offline flows, testability, and UX performance under spotty network conditions.

You know what you’re doing, because you’ve done it before and you have ideas on how to do it better. Here, you’ll get the platform, the people, and the resources to make it happen.
You’ll work closely with product design, backend, infra, and business to build a lean, scalable solution that, in just a few years, will power tens of thousands of terminals worldwide. And if you'd like to build a team or take ownership of the next product after that: those doors are wide open.

What You Bring

8+ years of experience in Android development (Kotlin)
Proven experience with POS payment systems (Verifone, Ingenico, myPOS, etc.)
Deep knowledge of EMV, NFC, edge optimization, terminal APIs, and security requirements
You’ve previously built Android products that are live on hundreds or thousands of terminals
You thrive in scale-up, start-up, or product-driven engineering cultures
You take initiative, communicate smoothly, and love building with and for people
