Your Role: Medior JVM Software Engineer Rotterdam

As a medior engineer, you’ll go beyond just contributing code. You’ll be coached on how to navigate stakeholder discussions, make lasting architectural decisions, and help shape engineering culture within your team. Whether you're improving observability, mentoring juniors, or pitching a new approach in a design session you’re already building your senior muscles.

You'll work in a polyglot stack using Java, Kotlin, Scala, TypeScript, and Go, and explore cutting-edge tech like event sourcing, generative AI, distributed systems, and cloud-native delivery. All while being part of a multidisciplinary squad where backend, frontend, cloud, and data engineers collaborate from end-to-end. Expect continuous learning, direct mentorship, and the space to grow.

Growth Path: From Medior to Senior and Beyond

This role is structured for growth. You'll be working 1-on-1 with senior engineers who are also public speakers, trainers, and technical thought leaders.
With regular coaching, bi-weekly internal sessions, and a €5.000 yearly training budget, you'll master both the technical and consultative skills needed to become a respected senior or lead engineer if that’s your path.

What You Bring

4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Scala (plus optionally TypeScript/Go)
Experience with containerization, microservices, and cloud-native architecture is a plus
Strong fundamentals in system design, testing, and clean coding is a big plus
Curious mindset, proactive communication, and ambition to grow into a senior/lead role
A technical BSc or MSc degree (or equivalent thinking level)
