Your job: AWS Cloud DevOps Engineer Utrecht

When you step into this role as AWS Cloud DevOps Engineer you join a small Platform team that supports several product engineering squads,where you work directly with a very experienced Principalto help you to the next level. Together you keep the platform healthy, stable and scalable, while also helping teams make better decisions in infrastructure, deployment and observability.

From the first weeks on, you work with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes and GitLab to keep the environment running smoothly and predictably. You improve CI/CD pipelines, design scalable infrastructure patterns, enhance observability and help engineers understand failures before they happen. You look at performance, reliability and security not as checklists, but as essential parts of the product.

You also play an important role in maturing the organisation. You help establish better standards, improve consistency between teams and replace legacy patterns with more robust practices. Think identity and access management, clear service boundaries, reproducible environments and reliable deployment flows.

You collaborate closely with data and software engineers handling billions of datapoints from smart meters. You support product teams when pipelines get stuck or new services need infrastructure. You help split monolithic patterns into more isolated and secure setups. You champion internal tooling, reusable libraries, Kubernetes capabilities and automation that removes toil for the entire engineering organisation.

This is a role for someone who enjoys a broad scope, deep cloud engineering and the satisfaction of making a platform work elegantly for dozens of other engineers.

What is required

• At least 4 years of experience in DevOps, SRE or Cloud Engineering
• Strong experience with public cloud, AWS is a big plus!
• Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code patterns
• Strong experience with Kubernetes (cluster operations, manifests, Helm)
• Experience with GitLab CI/CDor similar
• Experience with observability tooling such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki or OpenTelemetry
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and distributed systems
• Ability to script in Python, Go or Bash
• Experience working with engineering teams and supporting them with platform tooling
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote first environment
