Your role: Junior Backend Engineer Amsterdam

As a Junior Backend Engineer Amsterdam, you’ll help develop scalable backend systems that process and analyze complex data. You’ll build and test event-driven microservices using Java and Kotlin, leverage Kafka for streaming, and run everything on GCP using Docker and Terraform.

You don’t need to know everything yet. That’s what you’ll learn here. Senior engineers will support you through code reviews, pair programming, and design sessions. Step by step, you’ll grow from a junior developer into an independent engineer capable of designing and building high-performance systems.

What’s required

• At least 1 year of professional backend development experience
• Experience with Java or Kotlin
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and basic cloud concepts (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Interest in event-driven architectures and data-intensive systems
• Completed MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field
• Strong communication skills in both English and Dutch
