Like many successful tech companies, this organization started out of passion in an attic. Now more than 20 years later, this has become one of the leaders in their industry. With their super high available platform, they help various types of SMEs to automate difficult and time-consuming activities. And no, we are not talking about the umpteenth administration software here!!
After years of success, the organization is ready for the new phase and the systems will be rebuilt according to the current possibilities and insights, in order to get even more value and potential from the systems. This should lead to better user-friendliness, scalability and accessibility of the platform. The first serious steps have already been taken here by hiring a new CTO, Lead Engineer and front-end team. Now the goal is to form a new backend team.
There is no shortage of technical challenges here. The entire infrastructure now runs on the AWS Cloud. However, the system still has to be pulled apart to build individual (micro) services here, a lot of new features have to be designed and built, the user functionalities have to be innovated considerably and much more. Really the entire backend will be separated and built up qualitatively here. Clean coding, automated testing and continuous delivery are very important for the future here.
The organization consists of down-to-earth and friendly people with a shared passion to turn this into a new success story. However, you will not have to deal with commercial management and work pressure here. There is enough time to rebuild the systems calmly and qualitatively. Remote has been embraced here. Although they enjoy seeing everyone in their beautiful office every now and then.
Your role: Java software Engineer Apeldoorn
In your role as Senior Java Software Engineer Apeldoorn you will work in a close-knit team of back-end and front-end engineers. You will mainly work with the backend team here. Here you will work on the challenges described above. You will literally pull everything apart and for this reason you will come into contact with the full breadth of the high available platform.
You can imagine having such a big job that you will find a lot of variety in your job and no two days will be the same. That is why as a Senior Java Software engineer you get a lot of freedom to make your own choices, but you also expect a high sense of responsibility.
The old systems are developed with Java8, Spring & AngularJS and these will be completely rebuilt in the Cloud based on Java11, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes and the front-end with React. But everyone’s voice is very important here and the choices are certainly not written in stone here, so there is still plenty of room to think along with this.
What is being asked?
- From about 4 years of professional Java software development experience
- Experience with Java8 or higher
- Experience with Spring Boot
- Experienced in building Microservices in Docker
- Experience with Cloud and / or AWS is a plus
- Experience with building high available REST APis is a plus
- Clean coding mindset
- Experience with CI / CD is a plus
- Experience with building serverless applications is a plus
