Your role: Principal Backend Engineer Amsterdam Distributed Systems
As Principal Backend Engineer Amsterdam Distributed Systems you will be the first engineers in the Amsterdam office, helping to put in place all what is needed to build the best software engineering company Amsterdam has ever seen. Next to building kick ass software, you will act as evangelist of the best engineering best practices and help to share knowledge. There will also be chances for you be act as the voice of the company within the local engineering community.
Of course you will also build the greenfield next generation ML powered microservices powered stack, capable of enriching their entire platform (and the lives of their daily users). You will also get to help shape the whole development of their Amsterdam office and culture. Here you can truly make an impact, boost your career and have a great fun time while doing it!
You will get to build brand new heavy load API’s and web applications, continuously help improve scalability and performance of an ever growing group of consumer customers, mentor other software engineers and even get to bite down on research and development! As they have to solve challenges you don’t just read up on stackoverflow. Here you will get to adapt to change quickly and make decisions that impact millions of users every day!
You get to add all of this on top of an already rich history and culture driven by true agile, passionate software engineering fundamentals, a great work life balance and lots of freedom (flexible hours + working from home possibilities).
What is required?
- A minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience
- Professional development experience with a JVM language, Go or Python
- Experience building high performing distributed systems
- Experience within a microservices architecture
- Experience giving presentations, having a public github/stackoverflow or medium posts
- Experience with architecture and design is a big plus
- DevOps mentality (you write and run your own code)
- Experience with queuing technology is highly preferred
- Experience within a cloud environment is a big plus
- Experience with NoSQL technology is a plus
- Experience with Kafka would be a plus
- Experience with Prometheus, Jeager, ELK stack or Grafana would be a plus
