Your job: Lead Java Backend Engineer & Software Architect Amsterdam
In your role as Lead Java Backend Engineer & Software Architect Amsterdam you will lead one of the elite teams full of intelligent and eager backend engineers, working on a very core part of the systems.
All communication for hundreds of millions of daily users come through this system. You and your team will be responsible for extending the platform globally, removing technical debt and helping to form a solid plan for the future.
Here you will lead your development team and hands on help to extend the platform build in Java11, Cassandra, Kafka and Openstack. As the scale of their systems continuously increases you can look forward to challenges for years to come. Next to all of this you will be part of the global architecture team, responsible for the architecture of all global systems. Think of what you can learn and impact!

What is required?
- A minimum of 7 professional years of software engineering experience
- Experience with building highly distributed and performant systems
- Willingness to work with Java as a primary language
- A MSc in Computer Science or similar field is highly appreciates
- Communicative, a real team player, proactive and you telling people about your solutions
- Experience with Cassandra and kafka
- Experience with Sharding is a big plus
- Experience with automated cloud deployment is a plus
- Excellent coding skills: TDD, Continuous Integration and preferably automated testing
