The Full Stack JavaScript Software Engineer Amsterdam we are looking for will be the lucky one to join the R&D heart of the company. They are continuously coming up with new products or product updates for the company. They are also looking for ways to improve on their tech stack and bringing it in continuous evolution! As you would expect in an environment like this, most of the development is greenfield.
It is perfect a ground to grow your career, follow your ambition to grow into a senior, or if you are that far into a lead. It has happened before that senior engineers have taken the opportunity to form their own team for a new product group.
They currently use a lot of functional JavaScript in React, ECMAScript6 and Babel. Do you like working with Graph Databases? Well, for this they have Neo4j. Next to that, you get to work in Node and they even have an Elasticsearch cluster. This really is FULL stack software engineering.
They engineer with a very high standard, implementing best practices in testing, with tools like Mocha, Chai and Intern. They have a full Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment pipeline with Docker and Jenkins; enabling them to have no limit in their deployment process. Weekly, daily, hourly…whatever is necessary to get the job done and keep tabs on the development cycle.
They take pride in having a very fluid story planning process, also giving flexibility in choosing the stories that you want to work on yourself. This is a great ground to have freedom and flexibility in your work. So yes, it’s also possible to have flexible work hours (also 32 or 36 a week) and working from home possibilities. They are even so flexible that it is not uncommon that with good reason it is possible to work a few days from your home country! To top it all off you are welcome to visit any conference that’s supports your development.
What is required:
- A minimum of 2 years experience in JavaScript Software Engineering
- A minimum of 1-year experience in building with SPA’s frameworks (o.a. Angular, React, and Backbone)
- Professional experience with React, ECMAScript6, Babel or Node is a big plus
- Experience with Mocha, Chai and Intern is a big plus
- Experience in building web applications in Java is a big plus
- A completed Bachelor or higher in Computer Sciences or a similar study
- A passion for quality software engineering
- Experience in working with scrum teams and / or a personality driven by collaboration
- Experience with the latest software engineering best practices like Unit Testing, TDD, Automated testing, Continuous Delivery or Continuous Integration is a big plus
